Signpost of Gohyaku Rakan gohyakurakandohyo
Landmark indicating border of Edo
The role of this signpost was to provide guidance for worshippers at Rakan Temple and Kameido Tenjin Shrine, and it was originally erected next to the Onagigawa River, around 50 meters east of its present location. In a location facing the Onagigawa River, the signpost also functioned as a landmark for boats passing along the river, and for people travelling along the riverside road, indicating as it did the border of Edo.
