Ogibashi Lock Gate

Lock called "mini-Panama Canal"

The Ogibashi Lock Gate is located practically in the center of the Onagigawa River. This river flows from east to west through Koto City, whose area is roughly triangular in shape. You could say that this lock gate is like a ‘mini Panama Canal’, enabling boats to navigate between rivers via two so-called lock chambers, which artificially adjust the differing water levels. These lock chambers, which are sandwiched between two corresponding water gates (a front gate and a rear gate), allow boats to sail through.
